Carmen Loemker

Director

Carmen holds a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from Ohio Wesleyan University, a Master of Science in Elementary Education from Indiana University, Educational Administration Certification from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, as well as learning behavior specialist certification.

Carmen taught elementary grades for 8 years and then worked as an assistant principal and principal for 16 years in the Collinsville School District.  During her time as an administrator, she encountered a wide range of students with diverse backgrounds and needs and enjoyed watching students find success through the forging of positive relationships with caring and invested teachers and staff.

During the 2022-23 school year, it became apparent that there were extremely limited options for students requiring a therapeutic environment, so Mrs. Loemker took a leap of faith and opened The Nurture School in October of 2023 to support students with unique needs.

In her spare time, Mrs. Loemker enjoys learning new crochet patterns, and taking online courses in topics such as special education and data analytics. Mrs. Loemker and her husband, Chris, have four daughters who all play various musical instruments, enjoy aviation, and the great outdoors.
